Last weekend I made my way to Wells, Somerset for a weekend away with five other bloggers. Adele, Kirsty, Hannah, Laura and Sara-Jane. We stayed in the gorgeous Double House Farm courtesy of Sykes Cottages for the #PLBSlumberParty*. I’ll be writing another post on what we got up to over the weekend but I wanted to set the scene and tell you about this lovely country cottage that we stayed in for the weekend.
The house is in Henton, Wells, Somerset which luckily for me was just over an hour from where I live in Gloucestershire. The drive wasn’t very pleasant though. There was an accident on the motorway so I decided to take the ‘back roads’. I don’t think I exceeded 30mph the entire way, it was very foggy too which didn’t help. Although the bad weather made me even more excited for a cosy weekend away.
Sykes Cottages have been running for over 25 years and have an impressive 6000 cottages available for rent throughout the UK and Ireland. They have larger ‘cottages’ like their Double House Farm which sleeps up to 12 people. As well as cottages for smaller groups and couples. They have cottages perfect for any occasion. Some with log fires, hot tubs and large gardens. Ours even had a BBQ for the summer days. Double House Farm didn’t allow pets but they have many pet friendly cottages too. I’d love to go away with Sam and Milo at some point and these cottages would be perfect for that.
Sykes Cottages Double House Farm is a gorgeous Cotswold stone former farmhouse with beams, exposed stone walls, flagstone floors and underfloor heating. This eco-friendly cottage boasts five bedrooms, two reception rooms, a large kitchen/dining room, a separate dining room and four bathrooms, three of them with both bathtubs and showers.
The cottage is surrounded by attractions such as Cheddar Gorge and Wooky Hole Caves. And is close to the coast of Weston-Super-Mare and Brean. The location gives you a chance to explore the local Mendip Hills, Somerset Levels, the Cathedral City of Wells. Along with the famous Historic City of Glastonbury.
I don’t think this cottage could have been more perfect for our relaxing weekend away. Thank you Sykes Cottages for having us! My #PLBSlumberParty post is going live next Sunday so you can read about all the fantastic things we got up to over the weekend.
Have you stayed in any of Sykes Cottages before? What do you think of this one?
Until next time,
