If you follow me on any of my social medias you’ll know that I suffer badly with adult acne. I was in the middle of complaining on Twitter about a recent breakout when Cosmetify got in touch about a Summer campaign they were working on. It couldn’t have come at a better time. I decided to completely overhaul my skincare routine and weeks later I’m kicking myself I didn’t do it sooner. After trialling the new routine for 4 weeks I thought it was about time to share my routine and some before and after photos with you. No I can’t believe the difference either.
Cosmetify is an online beauty store stocking over 1,500 brands and over 150,000 products including GHD, Huda Beauty and The Ordinary. They made it so simple to find products for a new Acne Prone Skincare Routine as you can use their website to shop by skin complaint such as Dry, Blackheads, Dark Spots and in my case Acne Prone. I was pleased to find there were nearly 150 products for Acne Prone skin to chose from on Cosmetify.
I was going to go for my favourites such as Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and the Nip+Fab Teen Skin Fix range but I wanted to try some other products that had been recommended to me, especially La Roche Posay and The Ordinary as these brands had been suggested over and over again. I introduced each product slowly to ensure they didn’t cause breakouts and only introduced one product at a time so I knew which product was causing the breakouts if this was the case. You’ve got to be so careful with acne prone skin.
Evening Acne Prone Skincare Routine
Cleanse – Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel
Eye Makeup Remover – Garnier Skin Naturals 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover
Toner – Nutriganics Refreshing Toner
Vitamin C – The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%
Moisturiser – The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA
Face Mask (1-2 times per week) – Loreal Pure Clay Glow and Blemish Rescue Masks
I’ve been wanting to try The Ordinary products for a long long time so I was pleased to see that Cosmetify stocked the entire range. My skin has been loving these two products so far and I’m tempted to order some more so I’d love your recommendations.
I’ve got to be so careful with face masks as most of the time they do more harm than good. I’ve been using the Loreal face masks since they were released around 2-3 years ago and I’m yet to have any breakouts from them. The Pure Clay Blemish Rescue is a new release to clear and unclog pores and felt so hydrating on my skin. I love the blue colour too! The Loreal masks start at around £4 and have at least 10 applications, although I often find they last longer than this. Cosmetify stock the full range of these face masks here.
Morning Acne Prone Skincare Routine
Toner – Nutriganics Refreshing Toner
Moisturiser – La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo SPF 30
I like to keep it very simple in the morning as I’ve found a lot of products can interfere with my make-up routine and make my skin look even worse (i.e. patchy or dry). As much as I’d love to go make-up free in the office and give my skin a break, I just can’t bring myself to do it. My acne really knocks my confidence and I’d just feel that was all someone was looking at in a meeting. Maybe one day.
I’ve also been trying to look after my hair a bit more too as it doesn’t look very healthy at the moment. I’ve started using my trusty Lee Stafford products I’ve been using for years and I’ve been eyeing up the mdlondon BLOW hairdryer as the one I use is a travel one from about 10 years ago which can’t be doing my hair any good!
Have you tried any of these products? I’d love your skincare recomendations for acne prone skin.
Until next time,
