As you would have known if you subscribe to Ami Rose (or follow me on Twitter), I have been trying the LighterLife Fast 5:2 Diet over the last month or so. All of the information on LighterLife Fast can be found in my previous post here so I won’t be going into detail on that. But in short, it’s a diet where you eat normally for five days a week and ‘fast’ using the LighterLife Fast packs for the other two. I wanted to write this post as a little update on how I’ve been getting on. To let you know which products I love and a few tips on getting the best out of the diet. But don’t you worry, there’s lots more to come as I’m starting month two as I’m writing this. I’m going to increase my exercise this month too so I’ll hopefully see some even bigger changes.
I’m going to be completely honest and say that I haven’t taken this month’s LighterLife Fast as seriously as I possibly could. I’ve really tried on the Fast Days, and I know you’re meant to eat ‘normal’ on the other days but I’ve gone a little crazy on my non fast days. And when I say a little, you know what I mean… Over the last four weeks, so a total of eight fast days, I have lost 4lbs. Which to be quite honest is surprising considering how naughty I’ve been on the other days. I’m certain that it if wasn’t for LighterLife Fast I would have definitely gained 4lbs instead.
My favourite product is still by far the Strawberry Shakes. LighterLife Fast kindly sent me lots of these so I’ve been having them on non fast days too. It’s so nice that something that I consider a ‘treat’ is actually something I can have on a fast day, as you can see from my photo. I’ve been having it alongside my breakfast some days as the shakes are amazing for keeping you full. Ideal for busy days when I can’t stop for lunch until a little later. The Vanilla Shakes are lovely too but they taste a little like melted ice cream for me to love them. I love ice cream but can’t eat it when it’s melted, anyone else the same? (Yes I know it melts in your mouth but that’s different).
Other favourite products have been the Nut Fudge Bars, Macaroni Cheese and the entire Light Bites Snack Range. The Light Bites Snack Range is new to LighterLife Fast and you can have up to two of these on the fast day, as well as your four products. The Freeze Dried Apple and Strawberries are my favourite, and satisfy my cravings for something sweet. The Roasted Shallot and Cider Vinegar Chickpea Chips are amazing too. And the Quinoa Bars sound lovely but I haven’t had a chance to try these yet. I’ll report back when I do.
I feel that one of the main contributors towards success on the LighterLife Fast 5:2 Diet is eating at regular intervals. I was having Breakfast at 9am, lunch at 1pm, a snack at 4pm and dinner at 7pm. Then maybe a snack from the Light Bites range at around 9pm if I was still feeling peckish. I know it’s never a good idea to eat later in the evening but I don’t go to sleep until after midnight. And the evenings are when I’m more likely to snack. Another factor is keeping well hydrated, make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day. And lots of Green Tea in my case too.
So yes all in all I’ve had a successful month as far as LighterLife Fast is concerned. But maybe not so successful on my non fast days. I’m determined that this month is going to be different, maybe because Mum’s joining me too, but more on that soon. I’m going to make an effort to exercise more, and make healthy choice on my non fast days too.
Have you tried the LighterLife Fast before? How did you get on?
Until next time,
