I’ve been struggling to get back on track since having Arthur. The things I used to enjoy I just don’t any more, or I find too difficult. I’ve lost a lot of my strength, especially core strength, so I find some exercises a lot harder. And I can’t run to save my life any more. I’ve been to the gym a few times in the last year, went on some of the machines with not a clue what I was doing, trying to hit the weights I was before then feeling disheartened because I was nowhere near them.
This is when I decided to stop trying to pretend I knew what I was doing and enlist the help of a personal trainer to help me reach my goals. I wanted to find an accredited personal trainer that had experience working with Mums and held a Pre and Post Natal Course qualification. I mentioned in a previous post that I’d had a few meetings with some personal trainers, both online and “real life” and have since started working with Campbell from Bourne Fitness. We are a week into my new training and lifestyle plan [kindly gifted], and am loving it so far. It’s nice to have some support and accountability and I’m regretting not doing it sooner.
Campbell has me on 3 workouts a week, upper body, lower body and full body which I have found easy to fit into a busy schedule. He is also helping create some small lifestyle changes/habits such as taking some more time for myself, having time away from my phone/screens in the evening and mornings and upping my water intake.
I was eager to get to the gym so I could wear some of my new Adidas activewear [gifted]. I always pinch myself that I’m able to work with brands like Adidas. I couldn’t imagine ever getting to this point when I started this blog 10 years ago but here I am lusting over some of their newest releases that have landed on my doorstep. The Running Thermal Leggings are my favourite. These are the best thing I’ve worn in a long long time and currently have £10 off. These are true to size so I’d go with your usual size.
I also upgraded my running belt, I picked this basic black one as I only need room for my phone and key and don’t like anything too bulky. I’ve been trying to find a pair of basic black leggings that I can wear every day as well as gym wear and thanks to reviews I went with the Believe This 2.0 Leggings. These are so comfortable and not see through whatsoever.
As well as these few activewear pieces I could not resist the Adidas Falcon Shoes. They’re currently unavailable in the white but they have so many other gorgeous colours available including this leopard print pair and this pair in “Shock Purple”. I want them all. I’m always a sucker for shoes and have a few pairs of Adidas shoes now!
It’s too early to start talking about results of my fitness plan yet but so far I’m eating a lot, I’m losing weight and I’m enjoying the gym. But most of all I feel happier, I’m motivated to do something for me, I’m enjoying getting through my huge magazine pile instead of scrolling aimlessly through Facebook on an evening, and my skin is even looking better. I will do a follow up in the next few weeks once I’ve finished a month on my new plan.
Have you ever worked with a personal trainer before? Did it help you keep on track?
Until next time,
Ami x
