Last Friday Sam and I finished work and made our way the The Fox Den Stoke Gifford for dinner. The Fox Den is somewhere I used to go when I was at University at UWE but it’s recently undergone a major refurbishment. Sam and I were invited along to see the new look and trial the new menu. And we didn’t even need to leave Milo at home as parts of The Fox Den are Dog Friendly which makes a nice change. Especially when you have a needy dog like Milo that refuses to stay home alone…
We’d booked our table for 7pm and sat in the bar area in front of the fireplace which I can imagine is extremely cosy in Winter. The Fox Den can be booked via Square Meal UK or directly. We got ourselves a couple of drinks and ordered the Mezze Platter (£11.50) to start. This was a mixture of dips including houmous, tzatziki and spiced red pepper with breaded brie (which I could have eaten all day), lentil falafel and a stone baked flatbread. I loved the spiced red pepper dip, I think I ate most of this one.
For the main course I went for the Roasted Vegetable and Pesto Pizza (£10.50) and Sam had the Beef and Red Wine Lasagne (£10.95). We both thoroughly enjoyed these. Being Vegetarian I’m using to a menu having one or two things that I may enjoy but there were a fair few on The Fox Den Menu. I want to try the Chickpea, Aubergine and Spinach Burger next time I visit. And I definitely need to visit on a Sunday and try their Nut Roast too.
We had a little bit of room for dessert and couldn’t decide on just one so went for the Pudding Tasting Platter (£8.95) which included a Chocolate Brownie, Eton Mess, Vanilla Ice Cream, Milk Toffee Tart, an Elderflower Gin Creme Brulee and a couple of Home Baked Biscuits. My favourite was the Chocolate Brownie and the Hand Baked Biscuits and Sam’s was the Creme Brulee. I was also eyeing up the Sticky Toffee Pudding when it came out to the table next to us, definitely going for this one next time.
Have you eaten at The Fox Den Stoke Gifford before? You can view the menu here. Which would you choose?
Until next time,
